Spain Highly Qualified Visa

The Spain Highly Qualified Visa was created to attract foreign professionals with advanced expertise in technical, scientific, or specialized fields. It is designed for applicants who either hold a recognized university degree or can prove at least 3 years of professional experience in a managerial, technical, or highly responsible role.
This program is aimed at individuals recruited by Spanish companies to fill positions that require specialized knowledge and skills, thereby supporting Spain’s economic growth and competitiveness.

There are three main pathways:

Company Incorporation in Spain.
Company Branch in Spain.
Representative Office of a foreign company in Spain.

The Highly Qualified Visa allows foreigners to legally live and work in Spain while enjoying access to banking, healthcare, education, and family reunification rights. Residency is typically granted within 2–3 months. After 5 years, applicants may obtain permanent residency, and after 10 years, they may qualify for Spanish citizenship. Newborn children of visa holders can obtain Spanish citizenship in just 1 year.

How to Qualify for the Spain Highly Qualified Visa?

Applicants must be 18 years old or above. 
Must hold a university degree or prove at least 3 years of professional experience in a highly qualified role. 
Must have no criminal record in Spain or other countries of residence (certificate issued within the last 6 months). 
Must be recruited by a Spanish company, or establish a company/branch/representative office in Spain. 
All family members included must provide valid passports, and adults must submit criminal record certificates. 
Dependents (spouse, children) must prove dependency and/or education status as required.
